Well it has been summer here in Arizona since about February, but lately we have been doing some fun summery things.
Last week we took a trip to the Catwalk in NM and stopped at the nearby fish hatchery because Colton is completely obsessed with fish. He loved it and it was fun for us to look at all the fish too. After wandering around there for a little while we drove up the road to the Catwalk where we were going to have a picnic and play in the water and spend the afternoon. When we got there we found that there was no water, it was so dry that there wasn’t even any mud! This was a huge disappointment because playing in the water was what we thought would be the most fun for Colton. We decided to drive back the way we came and take a different road that would take us to a lake called Bill Evans. This made me a little nervous because the kids had already been in the car for two hours and it was at least another half hour to the lake. I was also nervous because I knew Colton wouldn’t want to just hang out in the shallow water and I didn’t want to spend the whole afternoon saving his life. But we decided to try any way. The kids did great on the drive, no crying or anything! About five minutes from the lake we saw a little pull out with big trees and it was about 200 yards from the river so we decided to stop and play there instead. I was really glad we did because there were no other people, and the water was just deep enough for Colton to feel like a big boy, but not deep enough that I really had to worry too much. The weather was beautiful and we had a really fun trip. Here are some pictures.
Looking at the fish.
At the river there were hundreds of these baby frogs that were so cute! Colton had lots of fun chasing them around and trying to ‘pet’ them.
I think this is the only picture of the day that I got him to actually look at me.
Kaci is always happy with Daddy!
Hanging out on shore with Mamma
Water is so much fun!!!
It was a really fun little trip. Colton didn’t want to ever leave, but Kaci and Weldon and I were tired and ready to come home! It was a good day.
