Bees

Yesterday we were pulling into our driveway after going shopping and saw a huge swarm of bees fly through our driveway and past the house. I thought we should drive around the block before pulling in so that all of the bees would be gone before we got the kids out of the car. Weldon said OK but he wanted to see where they were going first so he could tell my dad about them ( my dad sort of collects bees and is into starting beehives and stuff.) So Weldon gets out of the car goes back behind the house the direction that the bees had gone. A few seconds later he runs back and asks for my phone. He calls my dad and tells him that the swarm of bees are going into the brick wall that borders our back yard. My dad was pretty excited and said he would come right over. The kids and I stayed inside while Weldon and my dad tried to figure out a way to get the bees out of the brick wall and into the beehive that my dad had brought with him. They finally decided to vacuum them up with a shop vac and them dump them into the beehive box. they were funny though because they didn’t put the bee suits on until each of them had been stung once. I think the FIRST thing I would have done would be put on the bee suit before I go knocking holes in walls and vacuuming up a bunch of bees. Any way it seemed to work and after re-homing the majority of the bees into the box they stopped for the night to let the rest of the bees find their way in with the others. It must have worked because this morning when I went out side there were bees buzzing around the box rather then the wall. My dad and brother came and took the box of bees back to their house tonight. I am glad because as much as I like honey and appreciate all of the hard work that the bees do in order for me to enjoy it, I don’t want them making it in my back yard! Here are some pictures.

Colton is Two!!!

Yikes! My baby boy turned two years old this month! That is so crazy to me, dang I must be getting old. I am so grateful to have such a sweet and helpful little boy like Colton. He has brought so much happiness into our family and I can’t imagine life with out him. He is always so busy and active and loves to be the life of the party. He is learning how to talk and jabbers incessantly, it is really cute because he looks at us and chatters away as if he is really having a conversation with us. He is such a fun and special boy. Here are some pictures of him recently.

He thinks he looks pretty cool in his hat!

Here he is reading in his room. It was really quiet so I went to see what he was doing and found him reading one of his books, I had to sneak taking his picture though so I wouldn’t distract him.

First ice cream cone. Look at the joy on his little face. He was way excited to be able to hold it and eat it all by himself, and he actually didn’t make that bad of a mess, I was pretty impressed.

Anyway, I can’t believe he is two. I am so lucky to be his mom, what a great kid he is!

Last Month was a Busy Month

I can’t believe that Christmas has come and gone, and that we are now in the year 2011 and have been for 12 days already! Holy cow things are going fast! December was a busy month for us but it was so much fun too. Along with getting ready for the holidays and continuing to adjust to having two kids we had our 4th wedding anniversary, and blessed Kaci on Christmas day at Weldon’s parents’ house. She was about a month and a half old. Here are some pictures of what we have been up to.

We took some family pictures on our anniversary, I am wanting to take some more here pretty soon now that Kaci keeps here eyes open a little bit more.

For Christmas Colton got this little four-wheeler and he absolutely loves it. It only goes about 2 mile per hour but he thinks it is pretty cool. It was funny because his cousin got one too so they had fun riding them around together.
