Kaci’s First Birthday!!

Kaci had her first birthday on the fourth and it was such a fun day. First we woke up and had hot chocolate and waffles for breakfast, (Kaci is a hot chocolate junkie) and then played at home and got ready for the day. Then we went to the store and got Kaci a birthday present, then took naps, woke up, ate lunch, played with her present all afternoon, had Colton help make Kaci’s birthday cheesecake, went on a walk, ate dinner, and then sang “Happy Birthday” to Kaci and had cheesecake. Then it was off to bed. All in all a good day.

I can’t believe that my little Kaci bug is a year old. It has gone so fast I can hardly believe it. I was looking through pictures since she was born and it seems like as fast as I was going through them was how fast this year has gone. Kaci has been such a wonderful addition to our family and I can’t imagine life with out her now. She is such a good, sweet little girl who is always so happy and fun to be around. One thing I really love about her is that she still loves to snuggle. It makes me feel good to get little Kaci loves. I think that it is so funny how much she and Colton love each other. He wants to feed her and play with her and take care of her, and she just adores him. Yesterday Weldon and I were playing with her by giving her a ball and then pulling it away really fast. She was smiling and laughing a little bit, then Colton decided that he wanted to play the game with her and then she thought it was just the funniest thing ever. She was laughing so so hard. I don’t know if I have ever heard her laugh that hard with any one else but Colton. He can do no wrong as far as Kaci is concerned. They are so cute together. I am so glad that Kaci came along to keep Colton company and that Colton has always been such a good brother to Kaci.

Here are some pictures of her birthday.

Colton loved her little toy and I think he played with it more then he has ever played with any thing that we have gotten for him!

Kaci was a little afraid of her toy at first and mostly played with the packaging.

Later in the afternoon she got braver and played with Colton and her little elephant toy.

I was really surprised that she was able to eat her whole slice, she loved it and just ate it by the fist full. It was cute to watch and she definitely enjoyed it. Oh how I love my Kaci girl! Thanks for being part of our family!!

Practicing

Kaci has found the walking toy that we gave to Colton for his first birthday and she really likes it. I think she mainly liked the music it would play, but then Weldon showed her how to walk with it and she wanted to walk all over the house with it. She still doesn’t walk on her own yet, but she is getting closer every day.

I thought this next picture was cute. I took it right after we all woke up one morning. Weldon has been working so much lately that the kids aren’t used to seeing him in the mornings so when they wake up and Daddy is home they are really happy to see him.

Halloween

This year for Halloween Colton was a horse and Kaci was a duck. Thanks to Lorraine for letting us borrow the costumes, they sure were cute and it made it really easy for me! We had planned on going to the “Trunk or Treat” for our ward, but realized that we didn’t have any candy to hand out. We loaded up and went to Walmart to get some candy and then headed to the “Trunk or Treat”. Both kids were so tired that they fell asleep on the way, so we just went home and put them to bed. The next day was actual Halloween but since both kids are still young we were able to get away without going trick or treating. We did get them dressed up and went to Monie and Papa’s though.

Colton loved his costume but wouldn’t hardly hold still for any pictures.

Colton kept giving Kaci hugs, but this was the best picture I was able to get.

Kaci thought she looked cool in her costume too.

Have you ever seen a cuter little duck?

DSC01388

The costume was just a little small so she didn’t like to wear it for very long, but it was cute while it lasted.

A Day at the Zoo!

A few weeks ago I was going a little crazy because Weldon had been working so much overtime and I was home alone with the kids, so when Weldon got a weekend off we took our chance and got a hotel in Mesa for a night and loaded up the kids and took a short break from life. We had a really good time. I was worried about how Colton and Kaci would do in the hotel, but they both did fine. Kaci slept all night and I just slept in the same bed as Colton so he wouldn’t wake up and not know where he was and be afraid. The next morning we woke up and got ready for the day and then went to the zoo. It was so much fun. Colton loved to see all of the animals and Kaci would get so excited and giggle when she saw them too.

Kaci was really funny when she saw the Javelinas because she got very interested and for what ever reason started growling at them. It made us laugh.

Kaci did really well the whole time and was happy and had fun seeing all of the animals.

Colton and I rode a camel, it was fun. Kaci was too young.

We loved the orangutans, they were so funny. There was a young one that was like a little kid, it would summersault around and try to get the older ones to play. They were fun to watch and we stayed there for quite a while to watch them.

When we got to the elephants a zookeeper came and he called the elephant over and fed her three apples and petted her a little bit. Then he leaned in and kissed her shoulder. Weldon and I thought this was gross because I imagine that an elephant would be somewhat stinky and dirty. It was cool to see one so close and hear the zookeeper talk about them though.

We had lots of fun and the kids liked it too. It was also really nice because they were so worn out from all of the walking around that they fell asleep almost as soon as the car started, and slept most of the way home!
