Preston’s Blessing

We blessed Preston on December 30th 2012. My mom made his blessing outfit and we were so grateful for this because I totally spaced it about a blessing outfit until about two days before the blessing day, so my mom was a saint and offered to make one. It was so cute and fuzzy that he looked like a little cuddly teddy bear!! I forgot to take pictures the day of, so these were actually taken a week later and he has grown so much in just a week that his outfit is already pretty snug on him.

Sunday morning while we were getting ready for church Weldon and I told the kids that today was Preston's blessing day and that we were going to bless him at church. Colton said "oh, so he can be baby Jesus?" We wondered where that came from, and just said no he is not baby Jesus, he is baby Preston. later that morning Weldon was listening to the Tabernacle Choir and he asked Colton who they were singing about/for, Colton said " They are singing for Heavenly Father and Baby Preston!!" The only thing that we can figure is that all during the Christmas season we talked about how the reason we have Christmas is because Jesus was born. We would tell the story and then say something like Jesus was a little baby, just like baby Preston. I think somewhere along the way we confused them into thinking that Preston is baby Jesus, so we had to do a little bit of damage control on that idea!! Preston is sweet and perfect though so I suppose I can see how a mistake like that could happen. I think it is cute how sweet and innocent children are and how the way they understand some of the things that we say is just funny, but I am trying to do better about how I explain things so that I can make sure to explain them in a way that they will understand and not get confused about things.

Christmas

We were all so excited for Christmas at our house. It is so fun to have little kids who are all excited for Santa. On Christmas eve we gave the kids new jammies to wear to open gifts on Christmas morning. Colton’s are Angry Birds and Kaci’s are Cinderella.

They both loved their new jammies. That night when we put them to bed we told them that they needed to go to sleep right away so that Santa could come. It was cute because they both went straight to bed and neither one got out of bed a single time when on most nights they get up about four to five times for stuff like drinks, or just to “talk to us”.
Santa came and brought lots of cool stuff!!

Colton and Kaci were very excited when they woke up and came out of their room. We actually woke them up because I wanted to be able to get pictures and they were a little groggy at first.

Kaci got a little kitchen set that was actually pretty cool and we have all had fun playing with. She also got a coloring book.

Colton got his blue bike and a backpack just like he wanted. He got a coloring book as well. They also got new crayons, markers, some new movies and a play dough set.

They both had lots of fun and were really excited. Kaci loved her coloring book and she still colors pretty much every day, usually when I am making dinner. Colton was very excited about his bike and backpack and even though it was still cold out side he wanted to go out and ride his new bike.

Kaci was thrilled with her little kitchen and now we eat play pizza all the time!!

Here Colton is ready to go try out his bike.  He was cute because he wanted to wear his backpack too! He is really starting to get the hang of riding his bike, but at first he would get so frustrated because he wanted to go fast and he just hasn’t quite figured it out well enough yet.

Kaci was funny the whole Christmas season because she was afraid of Santa, any time we would talk about him she would say “you better watch out” from the song “Here Comes Santa Clause” which I think is partly why she thinks Santa is scary, I mean who really wants somebody who sees you when you sleeping, and knows when you’re awake, and you are not even allowed to shout, cry, or pout about it!! Any way so we kept trying to talk about Santa so he wouldn’t be scary to her and on Christmas morning she was almost afraid to come out of her room until we said that he was already gone and had left the presents for him. She really liked the presents though. I had to laugh later though because a few hours later when she said she was scared of Santa Colton looked at her and said “No! he’s a good man!!” the way that he said it was just funny because he said it almost reverently like he was talking about the prophet or something. To that Kaci said “oh, he’s happy?” as if him being happy makes him less scary. So the list of people that Kaci finds scary is: Santa Clause, Jesus, Lehi, and now Uncle Ryan from a picture of him in his cap and gown for graduation. I told Tara he must keep good company if he ranks right up there with Santa, Jesus, and Lehi!! But when Kaci saw Ryan later when they came to visit he wasn’t so scary, and she kept asking where he was after we went back to our house. She is a silly girl for sure!!
