The Week before Christmas

'Twas the week before Christmas… If I were really creative I would make up a cool little poem or something, but I’m not so I will just write about what we all did this last week.

My sister Adelle was down visiting so we got to go over and see them. I was fun to watch Colton and Wyatt play and to get to hold baby Cache. One evening we were all talking in the kitchen and we could hear Colton and Wyatt chattering in the living room. We could only make out a few words here and there but they seemed to understand each other, it was so cute. Here is a picture of them just hanging out.

On the way out to my parents’ house Weldon let Colton drive on the dirt road. The sun is in a bad position, but the look on Colton’s face is priceless. He was so excited and he wanted to make sure he had his music on too.

We also got to visit with my Grandma and Grandpa Skinner for a little while.

The light in the mirror is really bad, but it is the only one with every one looking and Kaci is even smiling.

Colton and Kaci also got to see Santa Clause. The line to see him was ridiculously long and I was getting so frustrated because all these little kids kept cutting in front of us. I didn’t say anything because I figured it would be pretty Grinch like to yell at some five year old who has waited all year and is so excited to see Santa. We finally made it though. Colton was so excited while we were waiting in line but when he actually sat on his lap he got stage fright or something because he didn’t smile or talk or do anything, then in the car on the way home he said “ Thanks Santa!” which is what I kept trying to get him to say after Santa gave him his bag of goodies. Oh well, better late then never I guess!

Silly boy, I don’t think he ever even made eye contact!

Kaci even sat on Santa’s lap for a few seconds before she started to cry.

They got more excited when we made it home and they got some of the candy from Santa’s goodie bags.

Decorating the Tree

Well this was from the beginning of December but I forgot to post it so I will just do it now. These are pictures of us putting up the Christmas Tree. Kaci slept through it again this year and that is ok because it made it easier for every one!

The next morning Kaci and Colton helped each other un-decorate the tree.

Oh My Sweet Kids!

I love Colton and Kaci so much, they are so sweet and wonderful and fun to be around. They make me laugh every day and I wonder what I ever did with out them. Here are some funny things that they have done recently.

Kaci made me laugh the other day because she needed more shoes so I took her to Wal-mart to get some. I tried a pair on her and they fit, so I took them off and put them in the basket. She started crying and flopping a little so I thought maybe she wanted to hold them. I gave them to her but she was still crying, then she held out her foot and was trying to put the shoes on so I just put one shoe on, and just let the other dangle from the string all the way through the store. When we got to the cashier I had to take them off again to pay for them and she was so mad about that. I just thought that if she is already obsessed with shoes and she is only a year old then she is going to be insane about them as a teenage girl!! She also took her first few steps on Wednesday and we are so excited for her. She is excited too, she is funny because she gets really excited and she just laughs and laughs at herself with every step. She also makes really goofy faces and has the biggest, cheesiest smile ever!!

I need to get some pictures of her trying to walk. I took some earlier, but for some reason they turned out blurry. Here is one where she is giving her goofy grin even though it’s blurry.

Colton is so silly and fun to be around all of the time. He is so sweet and helpful and always gives Kaci ANYTHING she wants, sometimes this is nice, sometimes it’s not so helpful, but he tries so hard. A few days ago he was so cute, Kaci was in her highchair eating and she literally threw everything on the floor and made a huge mess. She had food on and in her clothes so I got her out and took her in the other room to change her. While I was cleaning her up I could hear Colton running around and getting into something, when I came back into the kitchen to clean it up I saw that Colton had gotten the broom and dustpan out of the hall closet and he was busy sweeping up the mess in the kitchen. He is just so sweet like that all of the time, he wants to help in any way he can and he tries to think of things he can to do help. He even likes to go up the steps on the porch first so that he can put out his hand and hold mine to help ME up the stairs. What a cutie, I sure am proud of my kids. Oh, another thing he did the other night, It was in the middle of the night and he was talking in his sleep, he mumbled a little and then said "please bless Kaci, Amen" it was so funny, Weldon and I giggled a little at that.

Five Wonderful Years

Last week was our fifth wedding anniversary. I can’t believe how fast it has gone. When I got married I thought I was so grown up and mature, so it is funny to look back at the pictures and realize that I was still just a kid, I am sure that several years from now I will look back to now and think the same thing. I remember the morning we got married, I was so excited and nervous and terrified that Weldon would change his mind and not show up. We got married in the Mesa temple and Weldon and his family went over a few nights before, but my family had to wake up early that morning to drive over. On the way it seemed like we were driving so fast but the speedometer said we were following the speed limit, but every one else must have been going so slow because we were passing every one. It took us a little while to figure out that the speedometer was broken and we were really driving about 95 mph down the road. I am just glad we didn’t get pulled over! Oh well, it just got me that much closer to Weldon in less time!

It was a wonderful day. I was so excited to be married to Weldon. It has been the best decision I have ever made. He is truly my best friend and he makes me laugh every day. I am so lucky to be able to be with him for ever.

It was funny because a few days after we got married we went down to the court house to turn in our marriage certificate so they could record it and they realized that the dates didn’t match up so they couldn’t record our marriage until we got that fixed. We had to call the temple and have them send something to the court house saying we really did get married. The crazy thing was that our marriage certificate was going to expire in a few days. I always wondered if they weren’t able to fix the dates if we would have had to have a quick wedding at the court house just so we could be legally married as well as eternally married! Luckily everything worked out just fine, but it would have been a good story.

Here we are now, five years later and still happy and in love!

To celebrate our anniversary we went on a family date for lunch. I think Colton and Kaci enjoyed it and felt special because they never get to go to a sit down place to eat. It was fun. Later that night we rented a movie and just hung out as a family. I am so glad that we got married and were able to have such wonderful children.

Here we are on our “date” waiting for our food.

Thanksgiving

I know this is a bit late, but better late then never right ? So first off I was supposed to bring some pie for Thanksgiving at Weldon’s parent’s house. I made a practice pie first just to make sure they would turn out. Colton wanted to help so we got out our super cute aprons that Monie made for us last Christmas and made a pie together. Colton had lots of fun dumping the ingredients into the mixing bowl and turning the mixer on and off.He is such a helper. When it was time to roll the dough into pie crusts he was really interested and wanted to help do the rolling, but I wouldn’t let him do that part. Then he realized that the dough had the same consistency of play dough so every time I would roll over the dough to flatten it he would slam both of his hands into the pie crust and then lift them up to look and the imprints left behind and say “Colton’s hands!!” It was funny but also really aggravating because then I would have to try and get his hand prints out. Needless to say he did not help with the actual pies!! Here we are making pies together:

Momma&Colton

So the next pictures are of us all during Thanksgiving with Weldon’s family. Colton and Kaci had so much fun playing with all of the cousins. We would come home every night and before Colton would crash he would keep telling us about Monie and Papa and all of his cousins, then he would smile and say “Fun!!” It was cute and I am so glad that there are so many boy cousins just his age. It makes for a fantastically wild party when every one gets together.

The boys attacked Uncle Josh and had a rope around his boot to hold him down. It was fun to see them all working and playing together, and actually getting along!

We had so much fun! Thanks every one!!
